WHEREAS: The forests of Mendocino County are important for its
economy, environment, and wildlife, and for the recreation, nourishment,
and education of its citizenry, and
WHEREAS: Jackson Demonstration State Forest comprises 50,000
acres of forest land and is a unique and valuable forest asset whose future
is of great importance to Mendocino County, and
WHEREAS: The State of California under the auspices of the California
Department of Forestry and Fire Protection manages Jackson Demonstration
State Forest;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: the County of Mendocino strongly urges the
California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection to expedite
development of a new management plan for Jackson Demonstration State
Forest, and
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED: the County of Mendocino strongly urges the
California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection to expedite
preparation of an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for Jackson
Demonstration State Forest that fully meets the legal requirements of the
California Environmental Quality Act.
